We have been involved in the sustainability movement for many years and one of the conversations that continually came up was the need for a functional web platform that allowed people from ANY region to be able to find locally grown organic food from local farms. We have also heard that the same platform could/should be a resource for people wanting to grow their own food. A place where you could learn and also be able to share your own knowledge about growing your own food. We love it when we discover something being created that is obviously the result of collective desire.
Peter & Jared have worked hard to create such a platform and now they are seeking the support of community to launch it. When we spoke with Peter he shared with us information about how they had been offered funding by 'entities' who knew the kind of platform they were designing would be very easily monetized and Peter told us they turned them down because they have a powerful conviction about making Local Grow free and not become another crazy online advertising freak show or expensive membership data base.
We assured him we felt the same way having worked online for years. We have just recently taken the helm of Transition California and we said in our first greeting post that nothing galvanizes a community better than collective purpose, action, and contribution.
We received a message from a member that ended with:
"So far Transtion has served as a social gathering tool its time for on the ground results."
We intend to help transition and evolve this network into becoming more than a social gathering tool - it can become a highly effective community where 'on the ground results' happen because we come together in cooperative action. The Local Grow campaign is the first of many endeavors that we can unite around.

How serious is the danger of climate change? The following attempts to give data that supports the theory that the danger is very high and immediate. It is possible the extreme weather conditions we experience are a prelude to the collapse of the current and relatively precarious state of the climate known as the interglacial phase. Greenhouse gas emissions have usually led to fast increase in the reflectivity of the planet as noted below. This appears to have been the case for past onslaught…See More
