Hi,

Just got your update on 'auto pilot' gardening and mention of needing feedback about your driving. I would just like to say in deep appreciation Dandarius you are doing a fantastic job of keeping it all together here. Admittedly there are a lot of things going on everywhere and it seems that just doing normal things is taking a little more time and effort than usual these days.  I have not been as active and involved as I had hoped I could be.

What I would like to say is this site, your input and direction, is a great comfort. I don't need regular or even constant input but it sure it nice when I do hear from you. You always have something relevant and useful to say and offer. And even though I am not always able to participate it is a way of staying in touch and always gives me an opportunity to do something when time allows. This is a time for prioritizing for me and having to pick something to really focus on so as to be the most effective. I need that and want to thank you and yours for being here.

I am in a kind of holding pattern but I think things will become more apparent in the coming months.

Again, thank you for all your time and effort and know it is appreciated.

Hi Dandarius, Sounds like you have  had a real time of it. You are in the heaviest snow belt in North America but that is little consolation I know. Spring is just around the corner and the days are getting longer. It will not be long till this is all just a memory.

Yosemite Sam is fun and love the green color everywhere. Nice feel. Thanks for all the caring and sharing. Did a post on Sprouting. I think it is timely. Big smile. Thanks again.

Your driving is fine. In regards to cutting firewood without mixed gas for fuel- there are 12 and 24 volt electric chainsaws available out there. Also they are much quieter to operate

So what do you think of the new look of the network?

Hi - I am the Founder/Designer of Future Dawning Enterprises and designer for the Future Dawning Virtual Learning Center & Think Tank. Our mission is to subscribe 1 million of the most creative people we can find in the world to address the "unprecedented in past recorded history challenges the human family faces today. I have been involved with the Transition movement for quite a while and Les Squires helped me set up the virtual learning center and think tank. It is about 12 Ning websites linked together with each website called a Portal and Pathway which has different interests. For a view of these, ago to www.futuredawning.org and look at the menu on the left of the site. A click will take you to any one of them. A special site is the CLICs or Community Learning & Information Center site. I am currently in the process of developing one of these in the Campo/Mountain Empire Inland Region which i want to stand as a model for "learning centers" for Future Dawning on an international scale, but also include the Transition Network. And, i am hoping that Transition California will get involved with this project. The Community Center here just got a grant for $200,000 to develop a food program to ensure that everyone in this area knows how to garden and assure that everyone is fed. The Community Center is also overseen by the Community Medical Center so lots of opportunity here to develop a very unique program that also addresses "community health and wellness" from an alternative perspective since 61% of the patient load of the community lives in poverty and 25% has no health insurance. What i am wondering is if there are any Transition members from San Diego or surrounding area subscribed here, or if there are members in other areas of California who might be interested in working on this project as volunteers from a distance or have a unique presentation they might want to make. Travel expenses may be available and i can provide a place to stay for a few over-nights if anyone is interested.

thank you for all your energy and enthusiasm. I am also very involved in projects related to transition (starting a water harvesting co-op in the SB area, writing about my experiences at the People's World Conference on Climate Change in Bolivia in April, and follow up to that) as well as my day job, family, etc. I also stay in touch thru a local listserv for transition santa barbara, as well as other permaculture related listservs, Bioneers, WiserEarth, and more. I have not have time to read and respond to your many emails since you took over management of the site. I trust that all is well and that you are serving us well. thanks again.

Hello people,
I have to admit that I am already well served by Transition US, and links with local transition groups such as Transition Richmond and San Francisco as well as the Transition East Bay and East Bay Permaculture listserves. I have more emails than I can handle at the moment and as I have never felt very comfortable with ning website technology (it hasn't seemed very intuitive to me), I tend to ignore Transition California. Sorry! So I have no feedback about your website features because I haven't used them. Writing this, I realize that I would enjoy more interaction with other California Transition groups, but is ning the way?

How serious is climate change?

How serious is the danger of climate change? The following attempts to give data that supports the theory that the danger is very high and immediate. It is possible the extreme weather conditions we experience are a prelude to the collapse of the current and relatively precarious state of the climate known as the interglacial phase. Greenhouse gas emissions have usually led to fast increase in the reflectivity of the planet as noted below. This appears to have been the case for past onslaught…See More
