How might your current work contribute to the sustainability movement?
My work helping people install home vegetable gardens will contribute to food security, reconnection with natural cycles, and community-building through a shared livelihood and tradition.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Sustainability & Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I think this movement is seeking to reconsider our relationship with each other and the natural world as connections we must honor and respect in all our actions. We look towards a brighter tonmorrow, and I am interested in building it together, now.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I have coordinated a community garden, in conjunction with conducting research on the community garden experience. I have completed a BA in Environmental Science, culminating in a thesis project that assessed the condition of a stream enhancement project using GIS tools, and suggesting how it might be sustained. Hablo español. I have coordinated and led in week-long service-learning trips for college students.
What aspects of the sustainability movement most interests you?
The creation of a social fabric that supports people and creates space for creation and celebration.
