Hello Transition Town Folks,

I just started the SLO Permaculture Guild a couple of days ago as an email group and wanted to invite you to be on the listserve if you'd like. I will send out notices of upcoming events and workshops and together we can arrange for site tours. If you'd like to join please email Teresa Lees at treelees@charter.net and I'll add you to the group! "Care for the Earth, Care for People and Fair Share" is our motto and pledge!

Hello - We are just moving to the North County of the Central Coast (renting in Atascadero in the next month). We are a family of 5 (3 small kiddos) and  we are looking to buy land to build a sustainable home with food forests (permaculture design). I am looking to get in touch with anyone who is working with cob in the area and similar homesteading projects. Any advice is appreciated. Look forward to meeting the local transition group when possible. Thank you, Sarah

where is sarah?

Hello,
What an incredible place to sit in that picture!
We are moving into the North County and are looking into trying to buy land to build cob. Is anyone working on any such building projects locally? Looking to meet anyone who has any advice about good areas to do this and how they went about it with or without permit. Look forward to meeting people in the area! Thank you, Sarah

This is an attempt to make contact with Sarah Forsythe and answer her question about cob construction in SLO County. She could doublecheck with Michael Robertson of the Green Goods store and Four Elements Farm, Ken Haggard of SLO Sustainability Group for architectual advice and the folks out at Quail Springs who are battling permits for their natural building, but cob buildings are not "legal" in California. There are people doing small cob outbuildings, cob ovens, cob benches, and the like. N'Credible Edibles landscape company are a good resource for garden cob structures. Just GOOGLE some of those names I gave you.

On a similar vein, I am looking to revitalize a SLO Permaculture Guild. I'm putting out word here to contact me at treelees@charter.net. I'm also putting the word out on the Central Coast Permaculture Guild (which also includes SB and Ventura)listserve. The purpose would be to support local permaculture efforts and "Permie" people sharing their permaculture projects and expertise with others.

Yup, thanks.  Now the only question is whether we will actually realize that it IS March 21st ON March 21st before 6:00 PM.... ;)

Hi Bill,  Oak Creek Commons does not show well on google maps.  So.......take Spring St. exit off 101, turn right over Niblick Bridge, cross South River Road and turn right onto Nicklaus.  In about half a mile we are on the left opposite Pat Butler School.  Park in guest parking or on the street.  We will have signs out.  OK?
